  • Starts Jun 19
  • 70 US dollars
  • ricRACK Community Sewing Studio and Creative Reuse Shop

Service Description

Do you want to make a fun, fast quilt without strict geometry or teeny tiny squares? This freestyle quilt class led by instructor Elysha Rose Diaz is for you! In two sessions we will cover a brief intro to Quilts: history, technique, and the art/design of a few of the quilting masters – such as Elizabeth Talford Scott, Bisa Butler, Faith Ringold, and the Gee’s Bend Quilters. We will use scraps from our resale shop (and/or your own personal scrap stash) to craft our own Freestyle Quilt Top (Strip style) using a machine for speed and ease. (24" square roughly or the beginnings of a throw-sized quilt) A few hand stitches will be covered for those interested in top stitching, finishing and edging options will be discussed. This is a basic skill level class but all levels are welcome. Basic machine skills are helpful. Wednesdays, June 19th & 26th 5:30pm - 8:00pm
