Jeannie Detweiler

Sewing Instructor

Jeannie Detweiler was taught to sew by her mother, grandmother, & great-grandmother while growing up in New Orleans. It wasn't until after Hurricane Katrina that she really began to use her sewing skills and started making plush versions of her characters after losing her painting studio in the storm. Since then, she has been making practical things like handbags & curtains and also loves to make replicas of things in plush form such as food & musical instruments. Jeannie has been teaching art to children & adults since 1996 and has been teaching sewing classes at ricRACK since 2017.
