A proud native New Orleanian of Cajun Creole roots, Robin draws deep inspiration from the rich culture and vibrant spirit of Louisiana and Gulf Coast. Led by an example from her father to constantly see the simple beauty around you ea lifelong fascination with textiles, she combined these worlds in heartfelt tribute to her mother—a talented seamstress and embroiderer, Marillyn. This led Robin to launch her own textile company in honor of her mom thus \naming it Marillyn in the moon. With that in mind she and compelled to be successful with this new adventure she begged and coerced her youngest daughter Lilly Hatheway to keep her focused and on track and MITM’s Chaos Manager position was born. Together they are Marillyn in the Moon. Our first foray into the fabric design and sewing world was to plan a project specifically for any 8-year-old to follow . We sketched a cute little girl with easy-to-follow instructions and construction visuals printed on the fabric so that a child could put them together themselves with very little grown up assistance. Thus began the Regina Quilt pattern and fabric collection based on Robin’s own sewing story and featuring her grandmother’s image, Regina. This little girl reflected her unique Cajun creole heritage as a theme character and added her mother’s delicious oatmeal raisin cookie as a design feature plus part of her sewing story to round out the Regina Quilt collection.
