SLOW FASHION:
A SUMMER LONG INTENSIVE
Slow Fashion
For Teens
We are happy to announce that this program will be made possible in part by the Bloomberg Youth Climate Action Grant from the City of New Orleans!
Do you love fashion? Are you committed to sustainability in the textile industry?
In the summer of 2025, ricRACK will be offering its first ever summer-long teen fashion intensive.
Over 8 weeks in June and July, teens will spend four days a week with our incredibly talented designers/instructors, Iz Eagles and Lorenza De la Puente. They will explore all aspects of garment construction, making their own mini-collections to be displayed at the ricRACK Fashion Show in September.
Over the course of the summer, teens will explore the fashion industry from a critical perspective, analyzing both sustainable and unsustainable practices with an eye towards how they might usher in a new generation of eco-friendly design.
Every other Friday, teens will have the option to participate in field trips to sites throughout the city intended to spark their creativity and increase their knowledge of the industry.
To qualify, students should be a rising 9th-12th grade student and know how to use a sewing machine. Interested high school students will need to apply via the link below. Spots are limited, and applications will be considered on a rolling basis.
The class will run from 10am-3pm, Monday-Thursday from June 9-August 1, with off-site field trips every other Friday.
This course and all materials will be entirely free of charge to participants, thanks to grant and donor funds. If you are interested in how you can support this program, please contact the Director at blaze@ricracknola.com.
