Service Description
This class explores the technique of creating a portrait quilt using fusible raw edge appliques from a photograph of your choice. You will use the photograph as your pattern to determine light, medium and dark areas of the quilt and for fabric color selection and placement. You must provide a digital image to ricRack no later than December 8th Ramsess is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Leimert Park whose portrait work in textile, glass, mosaic and pen honor prominent Black figures throughout history — from trailblazing artist and performer Paul Robeson to Ketanji Brown Jackson, the first Black woman nominated to the U.S. Supreme Court. Ramsess' work has been displayed throughout Los Angeles from the Skirball Cultural Center to Art + Practice in Leimert Park.
